The UNC Honor Court defines plagiarism as "the deliberate or reckless representation of another's words, thoughts, or ideas as one's own without attribution in connection with submission of academic work, whether graded or otherwise."

Plagiarism (from Latin plagiare "to kidnap") is the illegitimate use or close imitation of the language and thoughts of another author or person and the representation of them as one's own original work. In a very simple word Plagiarism is nothing but a thievery where the felon steals the ideas of writing, language and thought of another person and denote it as if it is his own.

Honestly if we will see then no ideas is original. Today if one is thinking on something then we can always see that somebody has already thought about it in the past as the human race has already pass through such a long distance in History. But the same thought or idea has been represented in diverse ways by different people by applying varied logic and providing different situations and facts. So this is the original way of expressing your thought.

But today the things have changed. With the development of Human civilization everything has witnessed a radical change. Basically the human thought has suffered a lot because nobody would prepare a dish when something is readily available. Even if you don’t like the dish still some people will prefer to satisfy the hunger with the things available. So also in case creativity. That’s why plagiarism is highly in the air.

One thing is very clear that plagiarism will earn you an instant fame and wealth if done in a perfect way. If your crime is not coming into the lime light unlike of Kavyaa Viswanathan’s first novel How Opal Mehta Got Kissed, Got Wild and Got a Life is reported to contain plagiarized passages from at least five other novels and All editions of the book were subsequently withdrawn, her publishing deal with Little, Brown and Co. was rescinded, and a film deal with DreamWorks SKG was cancelled, then nothing can stop you from an unlimited access to affluence and reputation.

Although plagiarism is a devious act still it exists everywhere starting from academia to film, journalism to music, and litarature to computer games….etc.Practically it is impossible to avoid as it has occupied almost all the aspect of life. But still “Every cloud has a Silver Lining”. Plagiarism is an indecent act and it should be prohibited anyway. Original Creativity should be encouraged as a weapon against Plagiarism. Then only (may not be completely) but some proportions of plagiarism will be constrained.
