Here's the way I feel about that - I'm not being asked to attend class for a student. I feel like I'm being asked to step up to the plate and become part of the solution for the student's efforts of achieving higher education. If their experiences in college were anything like mine, the thought of purchasing research papers isn't so far-fetched - college is overwhelming.
